• Read Chapter 11 ("Walking Alone") and "Epilogue" of Purdum's Something Wonderful. 
• You may also want to check out this article by Lin-Manuel Miranda in the December 2019 edition of The Atlantic. Entitled "What Art Can Do," Miranda cites the musicals of Rodgers and Hammerstein as inherently political works of art. Thanks to class member Deborah Horvitz for the link.
